Horse profile fields and horse types

Every field on a horse profile, who can see it, and which ones change gait detection or energy estimates.

This is a reference for every field on a horse profile: what to enter, which fields change gait detection or energy estimates, and who can see them. To add a horse, see Add your horse. To change a field later, see Edit or delete a horse profile.

A horse profile has these fields:

Equilab detects tölt only for horses with the type Icelandic Horse. No other type detects tölt, including Gaited horse. If tölt is missing from your trainings, see Tölt isn't showing for my gaited horse.

If you change the type, the new type applies only to trainings you record after the change. Earlier trainings keep their gaits.

Horse weight and energy estimates

Horse weight and equipment weight are at the bottom of the horse profile. Equilab uses your horse's weight and the weight it carries, with the distance, time, gaits and speeds of each training, to estimate how much energy your horse used. Treat the energy numbers as a guide: they are estimates, not veterinary advice.

Who can see your horse's details

Your horses are visible to all Equilab users who search for your profile, with these details if you fill them in:

  • Name and picture

  • Birth year (not the full birth date)

  • Gender, breed and discipline

  • The group the horse is shared in

  • The horse's Team: its co-riders, and its owner, marked with a crown in the Team list

Your horse's calendar is visible only to you and the people you share the horse with. See Who can see your rides, profile and horses.

If a horse type or discipline is missing

If your horse's type or discipline isn't in the list, choose Other. To tell us which one you're missing, see Suggest a feature or report a translation. For the training types you can choose when you record, see How to record a ride.
