Equilab uses GPS and your phone's motion sensors for the whole training, so it uses more battery than some other apps. These tips help you finish long rides with battery left.
Save battery while you ride
Do these on every long ride:
Close other apps before you start tracking, especially other GPS tracking apps.
Keep your phone locked while you ride. Equilab keeps tracking with the screen dark.
Use the stats screen, not the map. If you need to look at your phone, stay on the training stats screen that shows time, distance, speed and gaits. The map screen uses more battery.
Don't use battery savers that stop Equilab
Some battery-saving settings close Equilab in the middle of a training, which cuts the training short. Check the setting for your phone:
If you have an iPhone
If you have an iPhone
Keep Low Power Mode off while you track (Settings > Battery). Low Power Mode can make your iPhone close Equilab during a training.
If you have an Android phone
If you have an Android phone
Set Equilab's battery use to Unrestricted, so your phone doesn't limit Equilab in the background:
Open your phone's Settings app and tap Apps.
Tap Equilab.
Tap Battery or App Battery Usage.
Choose Unrestricted.
Also keep Power saving off while you track (Settings > Battery). Menu names differ between phone brands. For every setting Equilab needs, see Essential Device & App Settings for Equilab to Work Properly and Keep Equilab running on your Android phone: settings by brand.
Airplane mode: only as a last resort
If your battery still runs low on long rides, you can turn on airplane mode before you start tracking. Equilab keeps tracking your training in airplane mode. The training uploads when you turn airplane mode off again and have a good Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
Airplane mode stops Safety Tracking. While airplane mode is on, your Safety Contacts get no notifications from Equilab, and you can't get calls, messages or notifications. If you ride with Safety Tracking, keep airplane mode off.
If Equilab stops during your training
If Equilab stops during your training, see My ride stopped recording or was cut short.
