Equilab uses data from three key components of your mobile phone to track rides:
- GPS - to measure speed and
- Accelerometer - to measure motion for gaits and turns
- Gyroscope - to measure motion for gaits and turns
The app presents a warning if one or more of these sensors is not present in your device. Essentially all modern smartphones have the first two components, so typically this means your phone does not have a gyroscope. The app will still function without a gyroscope, but the accuracy of gait tracking often reduced. You can learn more about our recommendations for phone specifications to maximize Equilab's accuracy in this support article.
