Trails Feature Guide

Modified on Fri, 20 Dec at 1:26 PM

Equilab's Trails feature empowers you to discover, ride, and create new routes for yourself and others.

Using the Trails feature in Equilab is simple! To start, simply press the View Trails button on the map of the Track tab in the app. You can hide the trails any any time by pressing the same button to Hide Trails.

To explore trails in Equilab, you can take any of the following actions:

  • Scroll anywhere on the map to view trail markers
    • Note: All trails are added by Equilab riders (so trails not yet tracked by Equilab users will not appear)

  • Tap any orange marker on the map to see that trail's path

  • For additional details on the trail, press the "View details" button on the pop-up card

  • While viewing a trail's details page, you can save it by pressing the bookmark icon

  • On the Track tab, press the bookmark icon in the top left corner to view all of the trails that you have created and/or saved

  • You can ride any trail with its path pre-loaded onto the map by pressing the "Start riding this trail" button

If you ride an existing trail, you will see the trail's map while riding to help them navigate.

When creating a trail, please take note of the following:

  • You can create a trail from any tracked training that is at least 1km (0.6 mi) and 5 minutes in length
    • To do so, go to the training's Summary screen and press "Add trail"
  • When creating a trail, you can "trim" it to remove the start or end of your tracked session
  • Trails can be made private (visible only to you) or public (visible to all Equilab users)
    • You can add lots of information when adding a trail. For public trails, more of the inputs are required.
  • Users viewing public trails will be able to see your name on the trail if you added it to Equilab
  • Trainings longer than 100km cannot be made into a trail

For any trail that you created, you can edit or delete it by tapping on the Trail's Details screen, pressing the three dots in the top right corner, and then selecting the option to Edit or Delete.

If you need to report a trail that another user created - for example, if it is inaccurately depicted - you can do so by tapping on the Trail's Details screen, pressing the three dots in the top right corner, and then pressing "Report trail".

Any prior ride you've done can also be linked to an existing trail using the button shown on the training's Summary screen.

Premium Features

  • Subscribers to Equilab's Premium plan can access several additional options for Trails, such as sharing them only with friends, downloading them for offline use, and exporting them as GPX files.
